Sonohysterogram ("Water Ultrasound") is done to assess the endometrial cavity of your uterus.
A thin, soft catheter is passed through the cervix inside the uterus and a small amount of sterile
saline solution is gently infused. A transvaginal ultrasound is used to visualize the contours of the
endometrial cavity and to confirm the absence of polyps, scarring or fibroids inside the uterus.
The presence of any of these structures could significantly reduce the probability of embryo implantation.
