Our fertility center is unique. We have been providing highly personalized advanced reproductive treatments in a secure, intimate, non-hospital setting since October 1987. You will not be a "number" at Nova. You will become a part of Nova IVF with 24/7 access to your Nova physician.
In 1987 Nova was one of the first IVF centers in the nation and the very first non-hospital based IVF clinic in the State of California.
It is the Nova embryologists' expertise, their strict adherence to laboratory protocols and a keen respect of early life that has made our laboratory such a great success.
The Nova IVF laboratory is accredited by the "College of American Pathologists" signifying that it belongs in an exclusive group of reproductive laboratories in the U.S. that meet the highest standards of excellence as recognized by its peers.
Our laboratory also holds the "National Accreditation by the American Association of Bioanalysts Certification". This accreditation indicates that the laboratory meets the highest standards of excellence. The accreditation program examines all aspects of quality assurance including methodology, reagents, control of medical equipment, specimen handling, procedural manuals, reports and proficiency testing, personnel, safety, and the overall management principles that distinguishes it as the highest quality laboratory.
Other certificates include "State of California Tissue Bank License" and "CLIA Laboratory Certificate of Accreditation"
We are dedicated to the individuality of our patients. We see ourselves as helpers and facilitators along your path to a pregnancy. We feel privileged being able to participate in the miracle of our patients' conceptions.
We strive to provide a very supportive, confidential and safe environment by having all consultations, treatments and laboratory tests done at our center.
Compared with conceiving spontaneously, getting pregnant with the help of in vitro fertilization or oocyte donation may feel artificial and mechanical. We provide uncompromising scientific expertise in an environment that allows your conception experience be joyful, relaxed and as natural as possible.
We differ from most IVF and oocyte donation centers in de-emphasizing the medical aspects of the IVF and oocyte donation treatments while trying to simulate the spontaneous conception. We encourage our patients to preserve their normal lifestyles as they undergo treatments.
To alleviate the financial burden of advanced reproductive treatments, we have developed a most comprehensive package of treatment fee plans for your treatment at Nova. These plans are available for the IVF, egg donation, family gender balancing, IVF with PGD, gestational surrogacy and gestational surrogacy with egg donation treatments. For each of these treatments, you can choose a single treatment cycle or multiple cycle fee.
The following is a summary of the different aspects of reproductive medical care that we believe are unique to Nova:
- Expediency:
With your participation, we can minimize the length of your treatment cycle. For example, once ovarian stimulation begins, IVF treatment can be completed in approximately 3 to 4 weeks. The pregnancy test is then done 2 weeks later.
- No excessive, time consuming tests prior to treatment:
Advanced reproductive treatments can correct for so many different causes of infertility that the pre-treatment testing can be minimized saving both time and money. The treatment prerequisites at Nova IVF are scheduled so that there is no delay in starting your treatment.
- Nova IVF offers one of the most diverse, comprehensive and competitive package of treatment fee plans in the nation.
- We do not require that you transfer multiple embryos to be eligible for treatment fee plans.
- All new patient appointments and follow-up visits, all ultrasound examinations,
oocyte retrievals and embryo transfers are done by your Nova physician, not by physician assistants or nursing staff.
- As a Nova IVF patient, you will be given your doctor's personal phone number for uninterrupted (24/7) access to your physician.
- Reproductive Hormone Assay:
This is a functional blood test that corresponds with the quality and quantity of eggs within a woman's ovaries. It can be used to select the best month for IVF, egg donation or surrogacy treatment to begin.
- Nova IVF is a non-hospital clinic situated in Mountain View. This is a plus for many of our patients and
contributes to the family-like feel of our center. There is ample parking and easy access from both highways 101 and 280.
- Nova IVF is equipped with fully automated dual back-up generators in case of a power outage. The safety of your eggs,
sperm and embryos will always take priority over everything else.
- We encourage both partners to participate in their Nova treatments. For instance, partners and family members are welcome
to be present during the egg retrieval procedure.
- All egg retrieval procedures are done with conscious sedation (twilight anesthesia).
It is possible that you may fall asleep during the procedure but you do not become unconscious.
Since 1987, we have used conscious sedation in over 3000 egg retrievals.
This sedation is safer for you than using general anesthesia or unconscious sedation.
- We do not discriminate based on our patients' lifestyles, living arrangement or
sexual preference. Nova IVF has been providing IVF, egg donation and surrogacy treatments to same sex partners longer
than any other Northern California clinic.
- Multiple and multi-layer precautions are taken to assure
the "chain of custody" of your eggs, sperm and embryos.
We recognize and take very seriously the ultimate degree of trust you must have to undergo advanced reproductive treatments.
- We "prime" the inside of your uterus with the partner's sperm at the time of egg retrieval. This mimics the intercourse
way of conception in which sperm move through the uterus at the time of ovulation. This presence of sperm in the uterus
is believed to enhance the process of implantation.
- At Nova IVF, we do not require that you rest after the embryo transfer. No scientifically done study has ever shown a
benefit of resting after the embryo transfer. In keeping with our "As-Natural-As-Possible" philosophy, we give you the
choice of resting or not. In pregnancies conceived through intercourse, the mother does not know that she has conceived
this early in her pregnancy (she has not missed her period yet) and carries out her every day activities as normal.
- We were the first clinic in the world to medically correct azoospermia (sperm count of zero) using GnRh-Agonist hormone and
achieved a live birth through in vitro fertilization.
- Nova IVF was a part of a large multi-center study, recently completed, examining the impact of repeated infertility treatments
on women's health. We were very encouraged to find no correlation between the treatments and subsequent development of disease.
- Fifteen years ago, Nova IVF was at the forefront of research on the impact of volatile organic compounds on the eggs,
sperm and developing embryos. As it turned out, it is essential to eliminate these chemicals from the laboratory air.
The air purifying devices we developed are not only used at Nova IVF, but also in other US IVF centers and clinics around the world.
- Your Nova physician is a teaching professor. Senior OB/GYN residents come to Nova IVF to learn about infertility tests and treatments. They do not have any "hands-on" role in the treatment and you will always have the opportunity to decide whether or not you wish to meet them.
